We've all been there. Sat on the tram after a long and busy Good Friday spent at work, yet still clasping on to the last ounce of optimism you possess and thinking you'll check your bank account. And the results, well, take that optimism and leave you wondering how the hell you're going to eat for the next 3 weeks and counting until payday. Or, just me?
Not all bloggers are sent products to review, #spon or to model. Most of us are probably delving into our overdrafts to buy products that are all the rage with the excitement to blog about it equaling the excitement to test it out. But what's a gal to do, or more importantly, what's a gal to write about when we have to curb our spending?

Review or discuss things you already have: e.g. books, films or TV programmes
Whilst it's great to remain on top of all things current - like the latest trends etc. - somewhere out there's going to be someone fangirling/fanboying over something that you also have an interest in. There's things that will remain eternally 'on trend': some people read about classic literature, some people read chick-lit, I even have some comic books on my bookshelf that I studied for uni!? Revisiting things that you already own and have already exercised an interest in may attract new readers to your site.
As for films and TV programmes - these are readily available online and topics like these are pretty timeless! You wanna talk about F.R.I.E.N.D.S? People love that show. Desperate Housewives? Quentin Tarantino films? The possibilities are endless. And cheap/free.

Get-to-Know the blogger posts Again, whilst not all of us have 3 million Twitter followers to send us in #Q&As, there are still many creative ways to let readers know a bit more about you. I don't know if it's because I'm nosy as f but I love candid posts from bloggers! I recently did a post for The Liebster Award and I loved answering and reading everyone else's responses to the questions asked! I don't think it's egotistical at all to write about yourself. Blogs are usually quite personal to their owners; so let's get personal! My favourite kind of posts are the funny ones, though, not dead serious ones. It's quite sad to grant more successful bloggers exclusivity to posts that give us a little more info on their lives. With the growing blogging community, why not get to know the people you're reading about? |
People or things that inspire you
Maybe slightly personal, maybe slightly pointless, but why not? You could be introducing someone to a new adoration of a fantastic actor, model, feminist, writer, whatever. Tell us what you love and why you love them. You're interested for a reason. (Expect lots of Tina Fey posts from me from now on, then).

Uh, duh, EMPTIES You're skint for a reason and that reason is because you spent all of your money on stuff. What you probably have got left to show of it is receipts Empties, and lots of them. Tell us what you liked, tell us what you're never gonna repurchase in a million years. You might have no money to buy new products to write about, but you surely have old products unless you have literally never washed or worn makeup in your life and then decided to run a blog. Which I think is highly unlikely... |
This post has given me the chance to get a few post ideas in the pipeline, and hopefully will have given you some inspiration too. Hopefully April won't be too much of a stingy month for you, though. Or me...
What kind of blog posts are your favourites? Are you going to be spending this month??
